meetergo started as scheduling and appointment automation for B2B teams and has grown into a platform for managing customer communication across scheduling, forms, CRM, and channels such as WhatsApp, so teams can capture, route, and follow up with leads in one place. The problem
European data sovereignty is an important part of what meetergo promises its customers. So when the team looked closely at their transactional email setup, they found a weak link: Amazon SES.
SES offers an EU region, but the subprocessor behind it is still Amazon, a US company subject to US law, including the CLOUD Act, regardless of where the servers physically sit.
"For a product where European data sovereignty is a core promise, that's a weak link we didn't want in the chain," says Richard Gödel, cofounder of meetergo.
Transactional email is also one of the easiest places for a European product to quietly break its own promise, since most providers route through US infrastructure or sit under a US parent company.
Why AhaSend
meetergo moved its transactional sending to AhaSend, a genuinely European company incorporated in the Netherlands with infrastructure across the EU.
"AhaSend holds the same line we hold for our own customers," Gödel says. "There's also a deliberate ecosystem choice here. European infrastructure is far more capable than people assume. It's mostly out-marketed by the hyperscalers, not out-built, and we'd rather strengthen that ecosystem than reflexively default to the American stack."
For meetergo, European infrastructure isn't a compliance checkbox. It's a real differentiator for the customers the platform serves. Keeping transactional email inside the EU with a European provider means that when an enterprise buyer's security review asks whether attendees' data ever leaves European jurisdiction, meetergo can say no, and mean it.
Migration and results
Because meetergo sends over SMTP, switching to AhaSend was largely a credential and configuration swap rather than a rewrite. The team has taken a controlled, phased approach, consolidating parts of their sending onto AhaSend over time rather than a single cutover.
meetergo now sends several hundred thousand transactional emails a month through AhaSend, with more volume still moving over.
A large share of that volume is appointment confirmations and reminders, where timing is everything. "A reminder that shows up after the meeting has already started is just noise," says Gödel. "Reliable, timely delivery isn't a nice-to-have for us. It's the difference between the product working and not working."
On deliverability, Gödel is refreshingly candid: "Deliverability is never 100% flawless with the big consumer mailbox providers. Anyone who tells you Gmail and Yahoo are a solved problem is selling something. But day to day it's been smooth and consistent for us."
meetergo also points to AhaSend's bounce reporting as a concrete improvement over their previous setup, giving the team clearer visibility to catch and resolve delivery issues faster, which directly protects the customer experience for time-critical messages.
Integration itself was, in Gödel's words, "a non-event in the best way."
What stood out
Two things surprised the meetergo team after switching.
First, the transparency of AhaSend's delivery logs and bounce data. Many providers keep the most useful diagnostics behind abstractions or paywalls.
Second, the support. "We were able to reach Mark, one of the co-founders, directly, with fast turnaround," Gödel notes. "When you're a small European team betting your infrastructure on another small European team, that direct line matters more than an enterprise SLA on paper."
Would meetergo recommend AhaSend?
"Yes, specifically to founders who've made European data sovereignty part of their actual product, not just their privacy policy. If you sell to DACH or EU enterprise, 'our email provider is a US company running an EU region' is a line item you don't want to defend in a security review. AhaSend removes it."
"More broadly, if we want a real European alternative to the US stack, we have to actually use and back the European tools that exist. This is us doing exactly that."
